The iconic Nissan Skyline GT-R of the 70s racing scene reignited in 1990, boasting 2.6-L, 6-cylinder, twin-turbo engines. Two R32 Skylines earned every victory in six races, most notably the bright blue Calsonic, which took 5 wins to win the championship. In 1993, the GT-Calsonic raced in the All-Japan Championships, claiming 3 consecutive titles. To stay ahead, Nissan resorted to the R33 mid-1995. This model featured a 4WD-based, rear-wheel drive, and was replaced in 1999 by the R34; built on a more compact frame and with a carbon fiber body minus the roof, including a large rear wing to improve aerodynamics. The R34 engine has seen continuous upgrades, now paired with a 6-speed sequential gearbox, and promise to add more titles to Nissan's illustrious racing history.
