The 812 Superfast name is composed of the letters 8, which refers to the engine's 800 hp, 12, which refers to its cylinders, and Superfast, which refers to its ancestor, the 1964 Ferrari 500 Superfast. Presented at the 87th Geneva Motor Show in March 2017 and the successor to the Ferrari F12 berlinetta, it is the result (like the contemporary 488 GTB and GTC4 Lusso) of a stylistic, technical, and conceptual evolution compared to the car it replaces. At the front, the LED headlights and air intakes on the hood are noticeable, while at the rear, four circular taillights positioned parallel to the four exhaust pipes and a body-colored diffuser are visible. The bodywork features a specific color for this model, Rosso Settanta Anni, created to celebrate the anniversary of the car's namesake. It is equipped with the F140 GA engine, a 65° V12 with increased displacement to 6.5 liters (6496 cm³) to increase performance, with a power output of 800 hp at 8500 rpm and a torque of 718 Nm at 7000 rpm, with a front-engine, rear-wheel drive berlinetta-coupé configuration; the sprint from 0 to 100 km/h is covered in 2.9 seconds and the top speed is over 350 km/h, as proven by some videos available online. To increase power without the aid of turbocharging systems, the Modena-based company's engineers worked on the direct injection system which, thanks to variable geometry intake ducts, derived from those used in naturally aspirated F1 cars of the past, with an injection pressure of 350 bar, allows for smoother power delivery from the engine at all engine speeds.
